Now, Curilla whistling the Deguello is always readily available when you Google "Deguello." LOL. I just saw it. You sure weren't whistling Dixie to Yankies.

I saw this nice knife on PBS the other day. The appraiser pointed out that the blade has Arkansas Toothpick etched on it and speculated that it was made around 1836. There's no tale about it belonging to Jim Bowie, his family or friends like other knives, but I thought it had an interesting story. www.pbs.org/wgbh/roadshow/archive/201204A09.html

Speaking of collectible Bowie Knives, here's one I stumbled across that may appeal to those who love the "Iron Mistress" movie prop knife. Many of you will recall that it was used in several Alamo movies, starting with "The Iron Mistress," starring Alan Ladd, Disney's "Davy Crockett at the Alamo," "The Last Command," Wayne's "The Alamo," and the "Adventures of Jim Bowie" TV series. I have a Generation 2 replica of the knife, but this one seems to have a bit more detail and is considerably cheaper. It is sold as an official replica of the knife used by Richard Widmark in the 1960 "The Alamo" and has the film's logo stamped on the blade. There are two different listings for this on Amazon.com, but both seem to be for the same knife, although at slightly different prices and the shipping weight for each is considerably different. Has anyone actually seen this knife? The reviews for both are generally good and indicate it is a collectors display knife, not one that you'd actually expect to use. Here are the two Amazon listings: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003IITQ0Q/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A114M8639XDXKXwww.amazon.com/gp/product/B003NT2JMM/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DERNote that Fogdog is one of the vendors and also sells the knife on its own website, but for a higher price: fogdog.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4162017&keywords=Here is a much more expensive one (I found several listing online; $400-$700): www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/steve-voorhis-iron-mistress-bowie-knife-with#.UYElNpXU7FI
