Hey folks, My name is Wade Dillon and I'm a nineteen year old Alamo enthusiast. I am a native of Florida, but will be moving to San Antonio, Texas in the fall where I will be attending college. I've grown up with the story of the Alamo since I was little and it has surely become a lifelong passion of mine. While I host at a local restaurant, I find time to run Alamo Sentry.com and I am currently illustrating Brian Kaufman's The Breach, a historical fiction novel written as the personal journal of General Castrillon. I've also found a passion for reenacting and once I am a San Antonian, I will be portraying William Barret Travis with Mike Waters's crew. I look forward to contributing here! ~Wade

Hi, all, glad to find this site and come on board. My name is Paul Sylvain, and live in Nashua, New Hampshire. I'm an older dog (soon to be 59) who first got hooked on The Alamo story when I was 7 and saw Fess Parker in the Disney series about Davey Crocket. The John Wayne movie sealed the deal a few years later.
I've been to The Alamo many times, and lived in San Antonio for almost three years. I hope to move back some day. Over the years I've devoured everything I can find on the subject of The Aamo and that period in history (Goliad, the Mission Trail, etc.).
I hope to continue to learn more as a member of these boards.

Plan not to be. Best course I ever took was one I took for fun at UTSA, on Texas History, when I lived in San Antonio.

My name is Don Allen. I posted under the username "rustyfords" on thealamofilm forum, but decided to keep it simple here and just go by "don".
I've been captivated by the Alamo since I was a small child. Having been born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas, our summer vacation was often to San Antonio and the Alamo was always a part of it. This interest in Texas history was also nurtured by my ancestry. I'm a direct decendent of the William Wills who immigrated to The Republic of Texas and founded the town of Wills Point. I'm also the great grandson of a Texas Ranger (John Allen) who rode the Chisolm Trail and fought bandits in The Rio Grande Valley during the 1910's.
By default, I have become the family historian and keeper of records and artifacts, some of which date back to the republic days. I'm also a member of the Houston Archeological Society and am working on my documentation for my membership in the Sons of the Republic of Texas.
After serving a 4 year stint in the Air Force and Army (yes, both), I received my bachelor's degree in Chemistry, which is how I make my living now. I'm working on a Chemistry textbook which will hopefully be published in April of 2009.
I'm the father of one, soon to be teenage girl and her two little brothers and the husband of one fine woman who married well below her league. We live in Montgomery County, near Conroe, Texas.
My other passion is antique automobiles. I've owned everything from Model T Fords to high performance 60's muscle cars. The one I've managed to hold on to for over 20 years is a 1954 Ford tudor sedan that I bought when I was 16 years old. I'll be 40 years old next year and will officially join the rest of you who are over the hill.
Like a few other members of this forum, I feel humbled to have the ability to chat with the true scholars on this forum. I am a passionate lover of and defender of the Alamo, and all that it stands for.
All the Best, Don

Welcome aboard Don. I'm already fantasizing that you are a descendent of James Allen, Travis' last messenger from the Alamo and that, somewhere in your attic, is that last message from Travis. Let me know if you find it! At least we can dream.
Glad to see you here and look forward to seeing your posts.

Hi Don: Glad you're here!
That being the case, I'll bet you're somehow related to the immortal Bob Wills. His great-grandfather, Dr. Saladin Wills, had a brother, William, also an M.D., who was active at Wills Point after the Civil War. Was that William your ancestor?

Saladin Wills was my grandmother's (Wretha Wills) great uncle. Bob Wills was her cousin. She remembered the family gatherings in Cotton Gin, TX where the family would gather and play music. She said the whole crew was extremely musical.

Glenn I had a flurry of posts there....but I'll probably slack off a bit. I like the ranger section. Very cool...and hits close to home. I spent quite a bit of time in CO, all up and down the front range. God's country.
