Has anyone ever come across any new remnants of the Acequia? I know that they discovered the dam near the Witte, there's the section that runs along a wall off of Broadway where the old Playland park meets Fort Sam and the section near the Days Inn off of Houston but anyone find more of it? I'm curious if parts of it don't still exist running through peoples backyards that think its just some big old ditch. Considering its historic significance plus its role in the battle I figure its worth preserving.

The best preserved section is actually on the Hemisfair grounds. If you go south on Alamo and then left through the Hemisfair gate and walk about 575 feet, turn right down the walk that goes past the children's playground, there is a preserved section of the Acequia Madre de Valero along the left side of the walk. It is about 260 feet long. This is the best. There are also a few very small section south of downtown along the left side of S. Flores St. on the grounds of the old Arsenal. I've not seen those yet, but they are more like just homage sections I think.

There are remnants of one acequia in Brackenridge Park...across from the Sunken Gardens where the driving range is now. Still a ditch there, but is more or less filled in with sediment and grass. You can see it from St. Mary's street....it crosses St. Mary's around where the Bombay Bicycle Club is now.
