Thank you for the best 35 minutes I've spent in quite a while. A lot of location questions oi the filming I had were answered. Since I'll never get to see the Alamo set in Brackettville, this film tribute was excellent. I still get a lump in my throat. I strongly recommend it. Lou

You're welcome, Lou. Like you, I was strangely moved by these two videos. I think any true "The Alamo" fan would be.
I have literally HUNDREDS of photos that I took on the John Wayne Alamo set in 2008. With Rich Curilla's permission, I will upload them to a hidden gallery on my Traces of Texas website and post the location and the password here. I figure only the die hard, hard core Alamo fans will ever see it.
If there is anything sadder than the old great lady crumbling slowly into the ground, I don't know what it is. I know that funds are limited these days but it sure seems like perhaps Texas could do something to at least stabilize what is left before it all just turns to dust.
Sigh ...

That was a very enjoyable watch, cheers. I loved the past / 'present' sequences, Houston's arrival & departure are the two scenes I love most about that film. The music is so perfect with what is happening on-screen, it 'jiggles' with the riders in such perfect harmony. Looking forward to watching part 2 tomorrow night.
Robert.

Part 3 is there as well, clickable on the right-hand side as you're watching Part 2.
This video was put together by my friend John Dunlea. I'm proud that he used a few of my photos in it.

Great video!!A very quick trip into nostalgia land for me.The music still gets me.I like the "now "and "then" theme.I believe I've seen photos in which most of the west wall and north wall were destroyed during the battle scenes and had to be rebuilt.(photo of Wayne in a camera boom, looks like south half of the west wall completely gone). To me,probably the best Alamo movie made yet.I liked the new movie2004 but didn't have the emotion of the Wayne movie. How could you go wrong with John Wayne,a real fort(not styrofoam)and that great music.Great job fellows!!

I just watched all three parts and loved this. I only got to Bracketville once and that was in January or February 1995. The site was still in pretty good condition back then. The way this was filmed is excellent and does a lot to put certain scenes into perspective.
