A sad loss; another hero from 1950s New York baseball. Saw this guy play many times; even remember seeing him hit a homer in the old Roosevelt Stadium in Jersey City, when the Dodgers played a few games there before moving to L.A. He was one of the famous New York trio of centerfielders that included Mantle and Mays. No end of arguments over who was the greatest, and Snyder got his share of votes. R.I.P. and thanks for the memories. www.nytimes.com/2011/02/28/sports/baseball/28snider.html?hp

Being a child of the 60s, I didn't see Snider play until he was in his final season with the Giants, but I'm familiar with the Holy Trinity of New York in the '50s...Willie, Mickey, and the Duke.
They were of course, extraordinary ballplayers, who shared the biggest stage of what was then the biggest game. What a time is was, and what memories were made! Thanks Duke.

Agreed, Hiram. I feel very fortunate to have grown up in the New York area during that era, when baseball was America's number 1 game and we had three of the best teams in history. Sometimes I don't believe I had my pick of which of those 3 stadiums to go to any time I liked. Great memories, indeed.
