I understand from a mention that Bruce M made on facebook that as part of the Riverwalk Museum expansion they have been looking for the dam and the start of the Alamo Acequia.

I am of the oppinion that other acequia remnants still exist, whether the Alamo Madre or Pajalache or San Pedro -- just locked into private residences and business yards -- like the portion Mark found to the northeast of the Alamo area next to a motel. Hope they come up with something.

Yes, we did find a portion of the Alamo Acequia Dam just north of the Witte Museum across from Brackenridge Park, although the top of it appears to have been quite truncated. We’re still searching for the mouth of the acequia and its associated features but they are proving to be a bit more elusive. I'll post a photo of the remnants of the dam when I get a chance.

This is the trench we were excavating when we encountered the dam... ...and this is what the dam appeared like in the wall profile. Not much to look at but I'll add the profile drawing tomorrow which should give a better idea of the size and shape of the feature.

Here is the profile drawing of the east wall of Trench 7 showing the bit of the Alamo Acequia dam that we uncovered in our work near the Witte Museum. I wish there was more to show - unfortunately that's all we saw...
