So the team equipment trucks are rolling to training camps in Florida and elsewhere. I Red Sox's truck rolled out of Fenway Saturday. I expect the Rangers will be in the thick of things again this year, as will the Yankees. The Sox? Maybe for a while, but I don't see where they fixed the things that needed fixing, other than for the short term. Time will tell.
And for those of us Sox fans who remember Dennis "Oil Can" Boyd, I read a story yesterday where he said he was "coked" up more often than not during his 10-year career in the majors. Maybe that explains why he was 78-77 with a 4-point-something ERA. I never was into Boyd, I guess.

Well, it ain't the same game it was when I was a kid, but baseball still springs eternal, I guess. Already go reservations for 2 weeks in Florida, March 8-23; Clearwater; Phils train there & Stinkees across the way in Tampa. I can't afford the ticket prices, but it's a nice time to be down there.

Yes indeed. I'm sure the Red Sox will look good out of the gate, while the Spankees falter. Red Sox Nation will be giddy, as usual, imagining the season that will never be, because ... sometime aroiund June ... the Spankees will catch fire and the Red Sox will look as frail as many of us know they really are. By the All Star break, the Soxperts will be speaking in terms of clinching the Wild Card.
Sound all too familiar? You bet. This is the way it has been almost every season for the dozen or so years, it seems.

Not unrealistic, Paul. However, remember the ghastly start last season, when I was actually cheering on their apparent attempt to beat the Orioles' record of most losses without a win. Just imagine how different that last night of the 2011 season might have been if the Sox had just won a couple of those early April games. Let us not despair prematurely (see "Moneyball" if you can); the new broom may yet sweep clean. After all, only 4 seasons earlier they won the Series 4 straight.

Ah, optimism is alive and well in Red Sox Nation. Even I hope my prediction is wrong. I would still love to see a Red Sox-Cubs World Series, but that might be asking a lot.
