Via Kevin Young: I'm sorry to report some bad news about our Alamo friends Wade Dillon and Alan Huffines. Wade is recovering at home after being hit by a car on his way to work. No serious injuries. Alan has been fighting a severe illness since October and is back in the hospital. Will report more news as I hear it, but meanwhile keep these guys in your prayers.

Posted by Caroline Huffines earlier today on Facebook:
Caroline Cotham Huffines ICU. Friends and family, Alan is very sick. I was happily ignorant of so many things that occur in an ICU. Alan's heart stopped yesterday but the doctors were able to get him back. Thanks be to God. He is on a vent and is resting. He is septic. There is some sort of infection in his blood that we are fighting. He is stable but has a way to go. Thank you for continuing to pray. I am so grateful for the caring, compassionate care we are receiving

Alan has been fighting pancreatitis since September, and this has involved several hospital stays. After surgrery earler this year, he seemed to be on the mend, but as indicated by the news from his wife this week, things have taken a turn for the worse...hopefully things will stabilize and improvements will be made...indeed a hard time for Alan and Caroline and the rest of the family.

Result! I feared the worst after reading the above posts. All's well that ends well. As Jeff Bridges would say: "Rock & Roll? Phew!

Thank you, guys. Lady ran a red light while on her cell phone, going 30 mph. I hit the hood and my head smashed against the windshield. 15 stitches later and I'm good. Still fighting a few aches and stresses and have a pretty gnarly scar on my head, but I'm good.
I am very happy to hear that Alan is on the road to recovery. Very good news.

Good to hear, Wade! Welcome back! Hope all your remaining aches & pains clear up. Also hope every state will soon outlaw using cell phones in any capacity while driving.

It's illegal in New Zealand, but people talking on cell phones in parked cars are still prone to opening their doors without looking out for cyclists. It's good to hear Wade's accident wasn't any worse - although it sounds like it was bad enough.

I work on a university campus. Even though we have on campus housing, there are still a lot of commuter students. More than once I've had to look out for women with attitudes behind the wheel with a cellphone stuck in their ear.

Where I live, there is apparently a special brand of xtra-xtra-large SUV that can only be driven by a very tiny woman, who can barely see over the steering wheel, control the d**n thing, or park it in anything less than 2 parking spaces. Apparently, it doesn't start or run until the driver's head is attached to a cell phone.

Around here they spend more time riding around the parking lot waiting for the closest space to open up when there are plenty of spaces to choose from. And believe me, they could really use the exercise if you get my drift.

Alan's wife reports that he had some additional surgrey to clear some blood clots and have a screen put in to keep any new ones out of the heart area. He is still in hospital but apparently is still improving...
