So, what all is taking place during the High Holy Days?
Here is one event that I've organized with those at the Alamo!
What else is going on this year?
All the best, Wade

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED. The Plaza is going to witness a 175th celebration after all. Over the last ten days, Gary Foreman has been working around-the-clock and performing miracles.
The G-Man and his wife, Caroline, have been busy planning, organizing, and coordinating with people and businesses to provide a first-class celebration in Alamo Plaza. After the DRT canceled their scheduled events and the city declined to do anything, Gary stepped up to the plate to make something happen. And I can say with confidence, he's about to hit one out of the park!
True reenactors are coming to the event from all across the country to participate. The 18-pounder is returning to the southwest corner. David Crockett's first rifle and last known letter will be part of a Crockett display at the Menger Hotel. A large animated map of the 13-day siege will be at the Gazebo and staffed by Jim Boddie. An artillery battery will be on display at the main gate. Texas Cavalry and Mexican Dragoons will be mounted on horseback. There will also be walking tours and demonstrations.
Gary has been able to pull together several sponsors to cover the cost of the celebration and is still working the phones to try and deliver more. The theme of our event is education. Our goal is to educate the visitor. We want to enlighten folks on the amazing history that occurred in the Plaza while simultaneously entertaining them.
We could use some additional help with the crowds. Please contact me if you are available and willing to lend a hand. We'll be in the Plaza from the 3rd thru the 6th. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to momentarily peel-back the ugly commercialism and reveal the extraordinary history of the area.
Let me know ( PM, e-mail, cell) if you can help.
This HHD's should be one for the books!
~Glenn
