Well, we are finally able to say that we will be admitting visitors again to Alamo Village. Here is the post I am putting on our website today:
ALAMO VILLAGE STILL ACCEPTING VISITORS
THE BAD NEWS With the passing of Texas icon Virginia F. Webb Shahan, the family closed Alamo Village to the general public in order to reconstruct management and reassess goals.
THE GOOD NEWS A decision has been reached to allow visitors in to see and photograph this world-famous movie set built for John Wayne’s 1960 epic film THE ALAMO and used in so many other classic motion pictures.
While Alamo Village will no longer offer shows, souvenir shops and food services, all museums and displays will be available, and “town marshal” Rich Curilla -- historian on all things Alamo, Alamo Village and Alamo movies -- will be on set for questions.
By calling 830-563-2580, arrangements can also be made for:
- GROUP TOURS - SPECIAL EVENTS - PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY - MOTION PICTURE PRODUCTION
Starting May 1, 2010, visitors will be admitted at the following times weekly:
Thursday - Friday - Saturday
10:00 AM until 3:00 PM
Admission:
Adults: $10.00 Children under 6: Free
(Sorry, cash only.)

I don't think two or three days go by that I don't handle a question relating to The Alamo movie or the movie set. Fifty years later (well almost 50), the interest is still there. I'm glad to here that the Alamo Village is back in business again.
