Our son, Jackson Philip Graf, was born on March 1. On March 6, he was admitted to Texas Children's Hospital NICU because he had almost no platelets. Had this not been caught in time, he would have simply bled to death internally at home.
Thank God, he was diagnosed and treated, and is expected to recover fully and completely. We should be able to bring him home on Tuesday.

Here's to a full recovery. My son spent the first night of his life in the NICU. In the end, it was basically a false alarm, but I'll never forget that night of waiting and wondering. God bless y'all.

Thanks to you all! Jackson is at home right now, asleep in his mother's arms. The doctors tell us that the treatment was successful, and that he should never have to worry about this problem again.
I can't thank y'all enough for the prayers and support through this difficult time. March 6 was quite a bad day for us, but things have turned around. I didn't want to turn this into a sick kid forum, but I just knew there were good people on this board, and was proven right.
For the curious among you, Jackson was affected by something called ITP. If you look it up and find something nearly unpronounceable, you've found it. He seems to have had a very severe case, based on the fact that he barely had any platelets when he arrived at the hospital.

Glad to hear it. I can't think of a more terrifying experience; anyone with children knows what I mean. Good luck to the little fellow, and all of your family.

Glad to hear your son pulled through; my own elder one was born prematurely and very nearly didn't make it so I know what you must have gone through.
Mine's now 11 and already the complete teenager, and I've no doubt yours will be too one day. But we never forget.
All the best
