I have not been here in a long time and just saw the continuation of this discussion. I would like to say that while Glanton devolved into a pretty disgusting character on the Frontier, I think he has been demonized further by novelists and others. His scalp hunting venture was clearly egged on by the State of Chihuahua and the United States Consul in Mexico. I tried to bring balance to Glanton's history in my Handbook of Texas rewrite, but they only allow partial edits.
