Hi there. I have been trying to find a book with plenty of detailed color photos of the surviving parts of the Alamo. My Half-Price hunting has yet to prove fruitful in that respect. Thanks!

There's a coffee-table sized book by Frank Thompson titled "The Alamo" that might have some of what you're looking for. Susan Schoelwer's "Alamo Images" is another, but doesn't have a lot of color plates. Are you looking for any specific details? We can probably post a fair amount here...we all have a lot of photos on hand! Jim

While it is a bit dated George Nelson's The Alamo: an Illustrated History, is the source for Alamo pictures. There is a beautiful color panoramic overview of Alamo Plaza in 1997.

Another fine book is "The Alamo: An Illustrated History," by George Nelson. In shows the evolution of the Alamo and provides numerous historical photographs and drawings. And although there aren't many colored pictures to view, it is still a valuable book to have on hand. I've refereed to it many times and keep it close to my desk.
Oops - I see alamonorth beat me to the punch! Yes, as I was saying, I agree with alamonorth. ;D

Go to Google.com and select "Images" at the top; then type in "Alamo" in the search bar and you'll see a lot of Alamo images. However, most of them seem to be of the church facade. I believe that the Alamo gift shop still sells a package of color postcards that has different views of the grounds and buildings. If you are not near San Antonio, you can probably order them by mail. Their 2009 color Alamo calendar is out too, but I don't know what pictures are included. You can contact the gift shop at info@thealamo.com. Nelson's book is still useful, but the only color photo of the modern Alamo is the one large aerial shot.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've been poking around and still haven't found much. (I've turned into somewhat of an Ebay vulture like other family members.) I'm a bit surprised actually. I guess I'll have to go ahead and order those cards from the gift shop. Thanks again!
