One name I wish to mention here is Lorenzo De Zavala. Lorenzo emerged from the opposite end of Mexico, from the Yucatan. He seems to have been somewhat the revolutionist as he was arrested for priinting his Democratic ideas emerging at the same time as Hidalgo's Grito de Delores and was finally arrested for these in 1814. It would be interesting to read a sample of his papers from those years.
Lorenzo, on his way back to his Mexico, stopped in Texas in July of 1835 after returning from his post in France, departing there when Santa Anna began his self ascendancy. Now in Texas, he became a great defender of her at this point.
Hidalgo's cry for freedom must have planted seeds of independence in Lorenzo, and how that independence did form as his part in framing the Consitiution of 1824.
