I pre-ordered my copy on Amazon and can hardly wait til it comes out. I believe the tentative shipping date is February 2008.

Sounds like the appendix alone will be a treasure-trove for researchers. February or Bust. I hate "me too" posts, but me too! ;D Mark, if Bill C. holds next years' Alamo Society meeting in Bexar, do you think, you'll be there with copies of your book? I'd like to get it straight from the author, if possible. Could end up, having another long conversation at the Menger Bar that night!

The Menger Bar? What's that? ;D I'd also rather purchase my copy directly from the author. Let us know, Mark! Jim

A huge thanks to Victoria Reynolds for submitting a wonderfully written article and her photos are fantastic! Click the link to visit: www.alamosentry.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=72And please excuse how late this seems. Victoria is a hard working girl! All the best, Wade Dillon

Hey Herb, I do plan on being in San Antonio this March, providing of course that Bill has the Symposium there. But come to think of it, I'll probably be there anyway, because the publisher will most likely have me there (at the Alamo) with a box or two of books, sitting and signing them for a day or so, or so they said. So if you can make it, I'd be happy to sign yours for you..jus' as long as you pick up the first round. The next ones'll be on me. Mark

Mark, how many images will be included in the finished book? At one point you were including some of your original renderings. Is that still part of the plan? Jim

Jim Jim, There will be somewhere in the neighborhood of 85-100 photo-illustratios, and about 15 or so "traditional" illustrations. In addition, there will be a good number of maps and schematics. I just completed an overhead view of San Antonio de Bexar, and surrounding vicinity, circa 1836. Mark

Mark
I just finished looking at the pictures that Wade was kind enough to post on his web site and....well...I'm stunned. It was like looking through a window in time...it all looked so very real - gave me goose bumps!! Thank you for your work and a job well done. I look forward to meeting you in March and getting my own signed copy.

Mark, thanks for letting Jim post those images! Simply incredible. Looking at them I thought of at least a half dozen questions, I want to look to your book for answers.
As far as that first round, you got it, though I think, we should make Jim pick it up, for skipping out on us to see Clapton last March. ;D

I will ask one question now, after all February is a long ways off! Mark, how did you depict the small gap north of the Long Barracks? The one picture of the whole compound, you show a trail leading from it out past the corral toward it looks like the NE and the Camino Real. I tried blowing up the picture for a close look, but I can't make out what you did there. ?

Looking at the overhead view a couple of things come to mind. The two deadliest spots for an attacking force seem to be the palisade and the area north of the corral. Both these sections could have been raked by defending fire. While I don't think the palisade was attacked, I wonder if Romero's men shifted north due to their precarious position. Jim
