Thank you all for the welcome. Love the site. And admire the dedication and passion everybody brings to the table. I seem to recall a thread on the North Wall. Think I'll go there and post a question or two, Should any of you hombres find yourself in downtown Chicago look me up at the Art Institute and I'll show you around.

I haven't had the opportunity to log on since I've been added to the forum! My name is Lindsey!
I'm a student of Anthropology at the University of Texas at San Antonio. I'm hoping to go into Archaeology and Bioarchaeology. My studies of interest are relationships between groups/cultures, Civilizations, and warfare. I work at the Alamo as a tour guide at the moment! My interest in the Alamo is mostly the Military aspect of the Texas Revolution, the differences between the Texian and Mexican Armies: their structure, weapons, strategies, choices in leadership, and how each lead to their advantages and disadvantages throughout the Texas Revolution. My family in San Antonio consists of four members so far: my fiancé, Wade Dillon, his father, Allen, our cat, James, and myself. I'm excited to engage in discussion and debate regarding Texas Revolution topics with everyone!

My name is Edward and I am from San Antonio. I have been employed in the Architectural and Surveying fields in the past. I became interested in the city’s history about 12 years ago. Gathering as much information about the early years of the city has been my hobby. My initial focus was in the La Villita area. Recently, I started reviewing the data available in and around the Alamo when I found this great forum. Thanks for the membership.

Hi, my name is Rich. I am retired and have settled in Arizona after living and working in Indiana. Before I retired I was a manager in the steel Industry, and also a consultant. Since I watched the Walt Disney series about Davy Crockett as a young boy I have bern interested in the Alamo. I have visited it a couple of times and arrived here after buying Exodus From The Alamo from the Alamo Gift Shore and finding it disappointing in a number of ways. When looking for reviews after reading about half the book, I found this site and joined awhile back. Just today I noticed that I need to make an introduction, so I hope this will suffice. I will probably not post much, except to ask questions, as I came here to learn, and truthfully, I've become a bit leary of internet forums due to the amount of unprofessional behavior that has become rampant on many forums. I read many posts here and realized this forum is populated with scholars and gentlemen, and that is when I joined.
As I may not post often, I ask the moderators to not delete my membership at some future date, as I enjoy the images and such that are not available to non-members. Hopefully the time will come when i can meet some of the major contributors on this forum, as I have truly learned months since I first found it last Christmas.

Welcome Rich. I think you'll find nothing but the finest ladies and gentlemen in our Forum. I've enjoyed it for almost four years and have posted hundreds of opinions, comments and suggestions that were always met with courteous consideration. Even the occasional comments about sports e.g. The Yankees, was always met with the most gracious replies from my fellow members. This is the only site I belong to and I truly enjoy being a part of those who live "all things Alamo." I hope you also subscribe to the Alamo Journal. It's wonderful. Lou from Long Island

Thanks Lou. I should have added that my wife's birthday is March 6! When we were dating over thirty years ago I asked my sister to bake her an Alamo cake for her birthday. After reading about the HHD's at the Alamo each year, we have decided to try to make it next year for the 180 anniversary. Hope you are there!

Welcome, Rich. Glad to have another Rich around. Personally, I love questions -- and can even answer some. I have the same Alamo origin as you with Disney's Davy -- and shockingly, my life-long close friend Wendy's birthday is March 6. However, I got her back because mine is February 24 (the day Travis wrote his most famous letter "To the People of Texas and all Americans in the World.")
