Has anyone seem this tall tale? This little guy supposedly shot and killed a 445 pound black bear in the wilds of Arkansas. And you guessed it, he just happens to be a descendant of Ol' Davy Crockett. Some have bought this account hook, line and sinker, but I'm pretty skeptical. I think Tre Merritt had some help from his daddy and this may be some kind of odd publicity stunt. sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/hunting/news/story?id=3150157

Hey, the kid inherited Crockett's grammatical skill too! (And maybe Grandpa got some of Davy's tall-tale DNA. ) Jim

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the legal hunting age in Arkansas sixteen? Edited for self correction: You can hunt if you're under sixteen if you're under the direct supervision of a licensed hunter over 21.

If Tre has the same kinda luck killing elk as he does when he's hunting bear then I'm going with Tre if he comes to Colorado. ;D

You can hunt if you're under sixteen if you're under the direct supervision of a licensed hunter over 21. I think Lil' Tre got very direct supervision with aiming and where to hit the big bad bar for an instant kill. In my opinion this diminishes the feat a bit, but of course I wasn't a witness.
