Received mine Saturday, Bill. Lots of good stuff as always. Wow -- you've been doing the Journal for 30 years? Amazing.
Looking forward to seeing you at the symposium in March.

I enjoyed your Sylvainian bio very much -- what a parallel to my own development (if "development" mean what I think it do.) Only, I'm not so sure I would have called John Wayne fertilizer. LOL.

I want to express my sincere appreciation to Bill Chemerka for his 30 years of unparalleled service. He's a fine young man and has brought us a unique and archivable research tool and chronicle. Bill Groneman is the best, and I am looking forward to his "variations on the theme" with the Journal -- for the next 30 years.

Here, here, Rich. I second your sentiment about Bill's 30 years with the Alamo Journal. That's remarkable, for sure, and he has done a great job.
Also, thanks for your comments about my bio. I think many of share a similar path to the Alamo. I'm still looking forward to hooking up with you at Alamo Village, Rich. It should be easier to do now than I'm moving back to Texas. I should be there in the Dallas Ice Zone Saturday. We will have to do that sometiem next year.

Nice job on Paul's bio. The Disney Davy Crockett series was probably the key event of our baby boomer youth that made us such Alamo fans. In my case, I was also lucky enough to have a father and grandfather who visited San Antonio in the 1930s, so that when anything having to do with the Alamo appeared, Dad was always there to make sure I saw it. We were among the first to see "The Last Command" and the "First Texan" upon their release. You know, I never found out why my Italian family was visiting Texas at the time. But they did, and they planted a seed that blossomed with me. I want to thank Bill Chemerka for including my letter on the North Wall. I was honored to have my ideas included with some of the Forum's most esteemed members. Lou Capitano from Long Island

I brought it with me from New Hampshire, Rich.
Actually, I changed my planned route into Texas, to try and avoid it. Rather than drive into the teeth of that beast across Tennessee and into Arkansas (a-la Crockett), I continued south at Knoxville to Chattanooga, to Birmingham, Alabama, Jackson, Mississippi and into Texas and Dallas via I-20. It was a warm and mostly dry drive, with only a few thunderstorms and downpours (mostly in Tennessee). Well worth a detour that added only 50 miles to our move.
That ice kicked some butt in Dallas, though. We will have to take it slow once we get there tomorrow (Saturday), because the ice will still be on the roads. Otherwise, we had a good trip.
