Has there ever been any "digs" inside the Alamo Church and if so where, when, and what was found? I realize that so much has happened over the years inside the Church between battle and use by the U.S. Army. Just wondering.

There has been a lot of digging in relation to the walls and foundations in recent years inside the church, but I honestly can't remember that any of these were formal archeological digs. They have indeed discovered new things in relation to the walls themselves. Bruce Winders showed me guidelines penciled or etched in the plaster in preparation for frescos. This (and the fact that there WAS plaster on the stone) raises the possiblity that there may have been a temporary roof and/or services in the actual chancel rather than just in the temporary church in the north end of the Long Barrack (the granary) or in the sacristy.
