I had taken a few days off from working there, and found the "Busqueda" page wholly gone last Wednesday. It was up again the next day, but neither the standard nor the advanced version yields anything: apparently their current parameters encompass nothing. Anyone else having this problem? Are they doing scheduled maintenance there?
Of course it occurred to me that paying someone to hack the site is a nifty way for the drug cartels to pull the military's nose.
I was careful to save crucial pages and make notes on the rest, so I think I can make do with what I have, but I hate stopping short of a thorough search. I'm not dropping SEDENA a line until I know whether others are experiencing this or not.

Stephen, I just checked, and it's there at www.archivohistorico2010.sedena.gob.mx/busqueda/busqueda.php I did a quick search for "Santa Anna" and it yielded numerous links to documents with operable forward and back functions. I wonder if it might be your browser...or perhaps the site actually has been intermittent. I haven't checked it much in the last few months.

Thanks for checking, Tom, and it's back in action for me, too. I don't think they're having intermittent problems because I've been on pretty steadily this summer and this was the only instance. Dunno if they mentioned site maintenance before they did it, if that's what it was, or if it was a hack that likewise went unmentioned, but I'm not going to complain about how they run things given how generous it is of them to allow us this access.
As a teacher, it sure is nice to look at a page of excellent handwriting again. Fair copies, gotta love 'em.

No problem, Stephen. BTW, how do you save the images you download from SEDENA? When I was doing so, the only way I could get them to save was to copy the images on the website, paste them into Microsoft PictureIt, and save them as jpeg files. Must be an easier way.

That may have been one of the things they were tending to. I had been getting normal right-click-on-image saves, so long as I waited long enough after the page loaded--there was an interval of several moments before the save-as-a-picture command became active. Now it seems to work about as soon as the picture finishes loading visually.
I can just hear you groaning, "Oh, now they fix it. . . ." I liked your fine ASF Review piece on the attackers' rosters and am now in awe of your compiling the image files that way.

Thanks...much appreciated!
I Didn't mention the part about running each picture through a photo program to bring out what little clarity there was in the photos. I suspect the SEDENA images were scanned from old microfilm.
