The June issue of The Alamo Journal, the official publication of The Alamo Society, has been mailed to all members worldwide. Issue #165: Michigan’s John Farkis contributes “Murder at ‘The Alamo’ – A Brackettville Tragedy,” a preview of sorts from his forthcoming book about the making of John Wayne’s big-screen motion picture. New Jersey’s Chip Riddle shares “New Jersey at the Alamo: Richard Stockton.” Georgia’s Mark Lemon offers “North Wall Redux” – Part 1 – or “Why Nothing is ‘Indisputable.’” Lemon also created the cover illustration, Soldado and Soldadera. His depiction of the north wall’s appearance during the Alamo siege and battle appears on the back cover. Maine’s Ed Dubravsky presents “Percussion Weapons at the Alamo.” Michigan’s Brian L. Gibson is featured in the “Membership Profile.” Plus Alamo Society 2012 Symposium news, "Alamo News" and more. www.alamosociety.org

Just finished Alamo Journal #165 cover to cover. I tend to jump around when I read books and magazines so I started with Mark Lemon's Redux 1 and reply to Gary Zaboly. Quite frankly, I was a little disappointed. I understand and agree that the use of the word "indisputable" is rarely a word to apply to historical research. But its use should not have been the key basis of his rebutle. Let's just compile all the availalble evidence and see where it leads. Perhaps both horizontal and verticle timbers (along with a lot of dirt) is the answer. In other words...just the facts, ma'am... On the positive side, the cover picture was deeply moving and Mark's back cover illustration really dipicts the defense of the North Wall based on his view of the evidence. Issue #162 contains a fine illustration of Gary Zaboly's image of the North Wall defense based on his view of the evidence. Keep it up guys! Lou from Long Island

There was quite a discussion about it over on FaceBook, of all places. Mark asked me to hold final judgement until Part 2 is published in the next issue, so I will. However my initial reaction was much like yours. Overall, though, I enjoyed the journal, as always.
