"Can anyone tell me more about the upcoming book?"
I was able to attend the event and it was a very memorable evening. The conversation was wide ranging and both informative and entertaining. MY-OP - it was a love fest of Alamo and Texas history.
In regards to the book, Mr. Collins said that it is a collaborative effort and that it is already written and is in the book editing and layout process. He said that it will be out next year.
I believe that the book will tell Mr. Collins' journey in regards to his fascination with the Alamo and Texas History. - Don't recall anymore details (like the publisher!). Perhaps others can fill in all the gaps....

Phil Collins provides his reaction to the Dallas event (and assorted newspaper and Blog comments) in the forthcoming June issue (#157) of The Alamo Journal. As far as his book, he and his co-author will provide all the details at the appropriate time. All the best.

Have you guys checked the prices of fine press books lately?
The cost is in line with those of similar books. It is not--and State House Press never intended it to be--a mass- market trade book.
Recall also that the book is chockablock full of full color, high definition photographs. Those cost publishers a pretty penny.
You might want to actually see the book before you start complaining about its price. Having been closely involved with the production of this book, I believe you will find that it provides good value for the money.

Doc, Since you were closely involved with the production of the book, what is the size of it and how many pages are in it? I am sure it is a fine book.

The book is in an 8 X 10 landscape format.
It includes 430 pages. State House Press has printed the volume on slick, heavy stock paper enclosed by high quality cloth boards.
The photographs are high definition, four color throughout.
Some of you may have seen the color images in the TEXAS MONTHLY article. Those in the book will be much larger and even crisper than those in the article.
Trust me. If you have an interest in Alamo and Texas Revolution artifacts, you are going to want this book.

Doc, is the book out now (cannot find it on Amazon) and, if not, does State House Press have a release date scheduled? Thanks.

No, Allen, we have not yet published the book.
It will be available in mid-March of this year. Sorry, it will NOT be out by High Holy Days.
In my earlier post, I failed to mention that the limited, collector's edition will be protected by Texas blue Tyvek slipcase with gold foil stamping. This is top grade archival material.
Thanks for asking.

There will be a book signing in San Antonio, but not at the Alamo.
Details to be announced.
I just saw the bound page proofs; they are stunning.
