Not sure where to put this, I found it today in a bric-a-brac shop in Glasgow:

Hollowhorn ... so this is a comic that tries to envision what would happen were Davy Crockett to go up against roman legions?
I'm a Crockett fan but I don't think that even Davy would have held out for long.

The comic book doesn't surprise me at all. Crockett was such a larger than life figure after his death there was virtually no limit to the imaginative adventures storytellers told of his exploits. That includes one that claimed he played dead at the Alamo and walked off while no one was looking. Although he was a real person, his legend ended up along with Wild Bill Hickock, Buffalo Bill, Jesse James and other real life myths. It's a bit of a stretch to see him fighting Roman legions. I wonder why the yarns about Pecos Bill or Paul Bunyun ever got as big as Crockett? It's nice that you dug it up and shared it with the Forum.

It doesn't say it's Crockett. Just frontiersman. It could be Daniel Boone for all we know.

You are right of course, I'll check out the inside of the comic next time I visit the shop.
