I don't think anybody here is in disagreement with that. I think the point I'm circling around isd that exactly the same thing can be said of the Smithwick and Taylor manuscripts. Sure there may be some "improvement" in there, but the core stuff could only have been written (or dictated) by someone who was there

Thanks for that info. which bolsters my faith in the Creed Taylor narrative; explaining as it does the actual story behind De Shields’ involvement. Your welcome Stuart. I wonder if TRL knew about Hunter's involvement with Creed Taylor. If not, maybe that's why he distrusted the old veteran's stories so much. DeShield's work is tainted to a degree, but he has led me down trails that I might not have ventured down without him. I believe I'll keep him in my library as a guide post for visiting historians and really hungry goats.
