As some of you may know, the 2011 MLB season begins manana. Yes, everyone starts out tied for first place, but you can't put all the teams in a division on the same line, so tomorrow morning the standings will be listed alphabetically, which means in the AL East, Baltimore will sit atop the standings, followed by Boston, New York, Tampa Bay, and Toronto. Residents of Charm City, enjoy it while it lasts, I certainly will.

I must say that I still have my doubts about the R.Sox pitching, but it's a looooooooooooong season!! Welcome aboard and let's go Sox!

I am not a Bo Sox fan, but It's a pretty good bet that they will open with a three game win streak over the Rangers.

I dunno about that, but I hope so!
Dang! The Spankees already won their season opener vs. Detroit! Things are off to a gloomy start!

I am not a Bo Sox fan, but It's a pretty good bet that they will open with a three game win streak over the Rangers. I'm not so sure about that. Having seen the Sox and Rangers go at in Arlington the last three seasons, I can say that Texas has a way of bringing it on hard. BTW there are a lot of transplanted New Englanders there, so the stands are sometimes half Sox fans and half Rangers fans. Always exciting baseball when Boston comes to town. I agree with the "anyone but the Yankees" sentiment. But then, I am biased. Look where I'm from and where I live. Deep in the heart of Red Sox Nation, for sure.

I rest my case -- Texas 9, Boston 5.

Well it's pretty obvious why I am a band director and not a sports analyst. Excuse me, the crow I'm having for dinner is beginning to burn. Go Rangers!

Well, so much for a Sox sweep; if today was any example, they'll be lucky not to get swept themselves. They left a ton of men on base (a chronic problem the past few years) and Lester, well, how do I put it? Sucked?

Yep -- "sucked" kind of sums it up. I'm clearly going to have to "learn" who all these new guys are in the lineup. Apparently the first five Rangers runs came by way of homeruns (two solo shots and a three-run blast). Yikes!
They looked kind of lethargic, didn't they?

My Redbirds laid a huge egg on their Opening Day. Lost on an error in extra innings (error made by a former Cub/choke artist.) Albert was responsible for 8 outs (grounded into three DPs) and oh yeah, Matt Holliday had an emergency appendectomy yesterday. Did I mention their best pitcher, Adam Wainwright, is out for the year with Tommy John surgery? Jiminy Christmas!
