I received a call from Bob Alexander, author of WINCHESTER WARRIORS and other lawman/outlaw books. On Friday evening, May 20, and all day Saturday and Saturday evening, May 21, there will be a Texas Rangers Symposium at the Texas Rangers Hall of Fame and Museum in Waco. Speakers will include Chuck Hornung, Rick Miller, Bill O'Neal, Chuck Parsons, Paula Marks, and Bob Alexander who will moderate a panel discussion. Saturday evening Drs. Sadler and Harris will discuss Rangers and the Mexican Revolution - the topic of two of their excellent books.
The event is free, but organizers must know you are attending so as to have enough sitting. Over 100 have signed up already.
Bob Alexander has given me permission to publish his phone number. Call him at 972-435-2662 or send me a Personal Message and I will let Bob know you are coming (include the total number in your party).

I had not heard of this up-coming and author-studded ranger event. I did attend the February 12th benefit in Grapevine, Texas for the Hall of Fame and Texas Ranger Association Foundation and had a blast. I was seated at the table of the DPS director, safety chairman and senior ranger captain, which made me feel like a big shot, but wish I had been dressed for the part. Actor Robert Duval was at the table next door and his occasional smiles and nods to me allayed my nervousness about asking him for a autograph on my Witliff Lonesome Dove photo book. After I got Duval's signature we talk for 15 minutes about the TV mini series, rangers, his movie Get Low, etc. He was extremely friendly and a gentleman to all until the loud country music chased him out of the banquet hall. There is also a big 175th anniversary Texas Independence Day Celebration at the Ranger Hall of Fame on Friday March 4th, but this patriotic event appears to be restricted to those who can shell out $80.00 for a reservation. It starts at 630 pm and ends around 1130 pm, but I think I'll pass on this one.
