Me, too. Seems to me I've seen this link before. There's been talk about a full restoration for some time. Heck, I'd like to see the full, uncut version on DVD, but that hasn't happened yet either.

I think that ship has sailed. If they couldn't get it together for the 50th anniversary, as other studios have for nearly every major film, they're not going to do it.

Does this mean that the VHS version of the Alamo I have, which is noted as the "Director's Cut" is not the same as the 70mm version discused in the article? Bummer! However, it does contain the Overture and Entre-Acte music as well as the death of the Preacher as well as the (nauseating) birthday party for Lisa and a few other scenes. In case anyone wondered what happened to Scotty, he was killed by a Mexican patrol along with a Tejano who fought with the Texicans. To my knowledge, this version of the VHS has not been released in DVD. If anyone knows, please pass it along. Best regards, Lou

All of those scenes are in the full VHS edition (and there are two of those; one is full widescreen, the other only partial widescreen.
My guess is that the only way to get a DVD copy of this film is to record it yourself onto a DVD-R next time it is on Turner Classic Movies, which runs the complete, widescreen version now and then. If you have a DVR and a DVD recorder, you can get it all on 2 discs, including the intermission, etc., by recording it on DVR first, then copying that onto 2 DVD-R discs.

I haven't been able to catch the unadulterated version on TMC in the past 18 months.

It's there, Paul. I get their monthly mag/schedule, so I don't miss a thing (except "The Hanging Tree" yesterday, because I stupidly forgot to set the DVR!). I've been trying to post alerts here whenever it's scheduled and I'll do that again next time.
