Well, I'm 61 and still love to play guitar with my blues band in Maine and the old rockers I hang with in New Hampshire, despite the aches and pains. I feel like a kid in a candy shop while I'm playing, but feel it afterwards. Still, I feel blessed to be able to still be doing it.
I met Les Paul a couple of years before he died. He was 92 at the time and he was still performing two shows every Monday night at the Iridium Jazz Club on Broadway. He still could hold his own and certainly didn't embarass himself in any way. When I sat down with him how he did it, he replied it was about having fun ... that music should be about having fun, and if I wasn't having fun playing, I should get out. Well, I do have fun. Les continued to do those Monday shows until a few weeks before his death from pneumonia. I hope to keep on playing as long as I am able to.
I didn't think Phil did much on the drums in recent years. Surely he can sing without using his hands? I love Phil's work, and hope he can find a way to keep on making music. Perhaps, in his case, it's just not fun anymore.
Paul

I figured he would do something like this, and not just salt away these things in his Swiss chalet. I'm proud of him.
