I really enjoyed Game 1; looked like a blowout, but got closer toward the end. I'm guessing this series is going to be closer than last night's game looked. I like both teams and I'm happy to be able to watch a Series as a totally impartial observer. Happiness is a Series with NO YANKEES!!!

I can't say I'm totally impartial. Having lived in the Metroiplex and going to many Rangers games in Arlington, I'm happy to cheer on Texas (especially since the Red Sox dodn't make it this year).

Paul I'm with you, Paul, but they better pick it up. Down 0-2 with two ugly losses. I expect different results at The Ballpark. Go Rangers!

Wow. What an unexpected blowout tonight! I'm still hoping for a more competitive series, but you really have to hand it to the Giants; they were hopeless underdogs and now they're up 2-0. They are beginning to remind me of the 1969 "Miracle Mets"; getting all the breaks, key hits and defense. I know that Earl Weaver & the '69 Os began to think there was voodoo or black magic at work in that series (maybe there was! I know one Mets fan who actually used voodoo dolls of the Orioles during that series!); some of that going on here. Kinsler's near-homer just hitting the top of the wall. . . . We'll see what happens when they resume in Texas on Saturday.

We can only hope for kinder winds and better luck in Arlington. Kinsler's near miss just kind of puts an exclamation point on the way these first two games have gone.

Well, the Giants did it; Texas just couldn't get through that pitching staff. I'd read that S.F. had a terrific, young pitching staff and now I see why. The last two nights were works of art by 2 very young pitchers against a usually hard-hitting team. I really enjoyed this series and was happy to be a neutral observer since I was not invested in either team and didn't have to look at the Yankees. I'll always be grateful to the Rangers for pummeling them out of the post season.
Now, onto next April and a new season!!

GO SOX!!!!!! The Red variety, if you please.
Hey, I'm just practicing for next season, if you please. Only 3 1/2 months until spring training, doncha know?
I was sorry to see the Rangers lose, but was super impressed with San Fran's pitching. The Giants are a very gutsy team. Who would have imagined ANY team could and would shut down Texas to a collective batting average of under 200? Amazing. And that kid who threw last night still has me shaking my head in awe. It goes to prove the truth in the old adage that good pitching will shut down good hitting any day. It did in this series.
As for the Bosox, "wait till next year".

That's how I saw it, Paul. When I was following the pennant races (which is what it's all about anyway!), I only paid slight attention to the NL West, thinking no one from that division was likely to make it too far in the post season. As I recall, S.F. barely won that division and the wild card came down to the final day of the season, with Atlanta just barely beating out San Diego. Had San Diego edged out S.F. in the NL West, the Giants wouldn't have even made the playoffs! Go figure!
If the "Sawx" can stay healthy, unlike this season, they will definitely be in the running.
I may be back in Clearwater, Fla., next March when Phillies' spring training is happening. If you have the stomach for it, the Jankees are across the bay in Tampa, but I never go there.
Yeah - only 3 1/2 months to go! Take that, winter!

Never saw such a poised bunch of 20-somethings, mixed with geezers like Huff and Renteria. I was really happy for a guy like Huff. Watched him suffer with the insufferable Orioles forever.

d**n, I was hoping our Rangers would take some Giant scalps. Oh, well there's always next year or another few decades.

"Rent-a-Wreck" (Reneria) never did much during his brief tenure in Beantown, but he sure wreaked havok on the Rangers, huh? Nice to see someone rise to the occasion and go out on top. And Series' MVP, too.

I was happy for Rentaria; it may be his last game and a nice way to end a career. Let's not sell the Rangers too short either. Remember, this team was actually auctioned off this year!! How likely was it that they would clobber the Yankees and go to the Series? It was a nice end to their season anyway and they'll be back. I hope they re-sign Lee. I've always liked him and I think he pitched a fine game last night. He made one real mistake and that's all it took; Lincecum was just better. I'm also not sure if Lee was a bit tired in the 7th; not sure.

I enjoyed rooting for Lee to beat the Yankees, and then I realized that it's already predicted that he will play for the Yankees next year, since the Yankees always get what they want. It put a damper on it. With all these rented players, one wonders what exactly are we rooting for; the uniform? Back in the day, the Boys of Summer all lived near Ebbets Field, I think. So you were rooting for your neighbor. And the Giants and Dodgers really hated each other. Now, the Red Sox and Yankees really hate each other, until they are traded or signed a la Boggs, Damon, Clemens, and Bob Cerv. Jesse
