Bill Chemerka sent me this wonderful link to the docudrama of his screenplay on the Battle of Bunker Hill. One of my ancestors served in this battle and was hit in the right shoulder by a musket ball. It's about time somebody made a good docudrama on this pivotal American Revolutionary battle. Check out the links below and give Bill some kudos. Website www.bunkerhilldvd.com/video.htmlDVD and Video Trailer www.bunkerhilldvd.com/index.html

Looking closer at the cast and crew list of this new docudrama, I discovered that Bill Chemerka had other roles in the production of this film than I was aware of previously. Bill also served as an associate producer, featured historian, and 2nd unit battle choreographer. Some lady named Chemerka is also listed as a production manager and is apparently related. I sincerely hope they received five paychecks for all that work.

RR, thanks for sharing this. I hadn't heard about it, surprised Bill hadn't mentioned it. I think I told you one of my ancestors was also there. He was down on the beach fighting the British light infantry and helped with the rearguard when the redoubt fell. He also served at Bennington and had served with Roger's Rangers during the French and Indian War. As he would have said "Live Free or Die"!

I'll have to give this a viewing soon; I was at BH a few years ago -- well worth the trip. Well-run by the NPS, as I recall, and very helpful, knowledgagle staff. I learned a lot about the battle and other things up there.
If you are ever in Boston, make a point of following that "Freedom Trail" self-guided tour. You can see an awful lot of history in a single day, including BH, the North Church, Paul Revere's house, the USS Constitution, site of the Boston Massacre -- and don't miss the Old State House Museum.

RR, thanks for sharing this. I hadn't heard about it, surprised Bill hadn't mentioned it. You're welcome. I guess he's modest with his American Revolutionary projects. I don't recall, but that's interesting. It's cool that you can trace your family back that far. My Joseph Rodgers was born near Robert Rogers' Massachusetts birthplace and was supposedly a cousin of the ranger and Tory.

By the way I have an even more personal connection to this docudrama in that Bill C. was very generous in placing my ancestor in the film. Joe Rodgers is played by a fellow named Chuck Speierl and appears in the opening moments of the trailer above. He rides in on a horse and tells the main character (William Morgan) to "turn out" because the British are a-coming. My gradmother would have gotten a real kick out of the portrayal if she hadn't died early last year.

OK just to get in on this; one of my ancestors Captain James Urquhart of the 14th Foot was there on Howe's staff; as I understand it he had the happy distinction of being the only one who wasn't wounded

Stuart, do you know if he was any relation to Maj. Gen. Roy Urquhart of the British First Airborne Division?
