I just discovered this video from TexasHighwaysDotCom which shows some interesting scenes of the interior of the Alamo church.

That's a great video. I think some of it was shot last March, when Phil Collins was there and attended the ceremony inside the Alamo. Thanks for posting!

I think some of it was shot last March, when Phil Collins was there and attended the ceremony inside the Alamo. That it was, interspersed with stills taken at a later time. That's me carrying the US flag, commanding the color guard.

What an honor that must have been. Having no direct ancestry, I guess I will never witness the ceremony from inside, but this film is very touching.

On a similar preservation note. Here's a promo video for the Texas General Land Office that's been showing on local T.V. for the last couple weeks. I see two fellows I recognize in the spot, J.R. Edmondson reprising his role as Sam Houston from the Jack Hays Docudrama and first Texian Legacy Association President, Charlie Yates. It looks very well-done and inspiring. www.glo.state.tx.us/OC/savetxhist/psa_video.html

Thank you so much for this moving video. I found if you drill down into the YouTube format you can get clips and footage of many other Alamo movies as well as behind the scene photos and out-takes that occupied me for hours. Take a look...there was even a photo of the 1960 set apparently taken after the battle scene was completed and showing what the walls of the set looked like after all the special effects and explosions of the battle scene. I wish I could have made a print. It showed the breach where Lawrence Harvey broke his sword, the collapse of the headquarters roof with Denver Pyle and the opening in the south end of the west wall during the final assault. It must have been through this opening that Mrs. Dickenson led her daughter on the mule and the boy past Santa Anna and up the hill to meet Smitty. I always wondered about that. Lou from Long island
