The French Building was built prior to the Civil War and occupied the southeast corner of the intersection of present Main and Market. Bahhh! It was at the intersection of Dolorosa and Quinta Streets, placing it on the very SE corner of Plaza de las Islas. Market Street entered the plaza a short block north of the corner.
