Haven't seen it, but it may be worth checking into, since the author also wrote A Glorious Defeat: Mexico and its War with the United States. It seems a bit brief, though, at 280 pages, for a war that went on for eleven years.

I got this book and one on Alamo Music (I guess I will have to read) for Christmas. It is an easy read, does a good job getting you the background (as most of you know, Mexican history can get complicated) and covering all the major players. Some references to the events in Texas during the period, but nothing in great detail. I would probably recommend it to anyone who wants to get a good picture on the events in Mexico that will shape the future in Texas. I have to agree with the author that these were Wars for Independence than one single effort, and that the man who was really responsible for securing Mexican independence was Iturbide. 2010 will be the 175th anniversary of the Hidalgo Revolt.
