No comment, Lou! And as if that weren't enough I had to watch the Nats piss away a 3-run lead in the 9th and turn a sure win into a farce. How do you lose a fly ball in the clouds? Hmmmm? How??? It's like Billy Loes, who once said he lost a ground ball in the sun!

I think Seattle had vowed not to be swept regardless who was pitching. Thanks Allen, still, not a bad debut. Andy blames his own mistakes for the loss. But it was the Yankee offense that let him down. A-Rod's gound out that killed a basses loaded ralley in the 8th was especially galling. No bats get colder or hotter than the Yankees. Go figure, Tonight, they're in Baltimore for two games. I know it's an overused movie cliche, but "I got a bad feeling about this..."

From the looks of today's dreary, wet weather, which is predicted to continue tomorrow, the game will probably be postponed today and maybe tomorrow as well. If the Yanks are cooling off a bit, that may be good news for them and bad for the O's, who will have to make up the games at a later date, when that situation may be reversed!
Meanwhile, this guy Votto on Cincinnati was a one-man wrecking crew for the poor Nats yesterday. Three homers, the last of which was a game-ending grand salami! Some days it don't pay to get out of the dugout.

I had a bad feeling about Monday - and they won. So with Sabathia pitching Tuesday, we had a sweep, right? We could have an office pool. Which Yankee will leave men on base in a cruicial end game situation and ground into a double play? So far, A-Rod and Cano are the recent winners. No dessert and send them straight to bed!!!!

I was glad the O's got out of it with a split. I think they've now taken 4 out of 5 from NY, but the season is still very young. The O's have done well against there main rivals, NY, the Rays and the Sox so far. This could really be a terrific pennant race; I hope so since that's what it's all about. The "second season" (playoffs and Series) is another thing althogether.

OK - I know I'm getting ahead of myself and being a total sucker, but it's only May 17 and the O's won their 25th game this afternoon. That's 1/4 of the way to 100 wins! I realize that the long season has only just begun and all this could evaporate by All Star break, but this is a team I expected to start and end in last place. So did most of the "genius" prognosticators, who get paid to predict this stuff during spring training. I have no idea where they'll end up, but for the first time in about 20 years, the Orioles are at least keeping their fans interested!

Well, I see the Os and Nats have entered their June Swoon a bit early; hope they can snap out of it as the Yanks and Phils are starting to wake up.

The Long Island paper Newsday ran a picture of Santana from the front to the back page. Even a Yankee fan, like me, couldn't contain my joy for the Mets. Maybe those fickle fans will start to attend some games and appreciate that they are a hell of a team that tries its best in a "rebuilding" year. Oh, by the way, nybob: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Great moment for Mets & their fans. It's hard to believe that this is the first in the team's history, considering some of the super pitchers they've had over the years (start with that miracle 1969 team); I was there when that little miracle happened and I never saw NY go quite so berserk, like a small town that had never won anything before. The Yankees are a different kind of thing; but none of their many championships ever caused quite the same spontaneous, grand madness.

Tonight, the Yankees play the Nationals. With first place on the line, it should be quite a brawl. Gotta love it! I can't believe how the Yankee Bullpen has rebounded since the loss of Rivera. And the starting pitching has never been better. Now if the bats can continue to thunder, it could mean great things for New York.
But the Nats are fearless, so they won't be intimidated. It should be a tight series. No predictions, just hoping to see great baseball. Lou From Long island

What a weird schedule. Yanks play Atlanta again, at home and then we play the Mets again. A great opportunity to advance over 500 or get whupped against two teams bent on revenge. That's why I love Baseball. By the way, it was a nice scene of Jeter talking to the rookie sensation Harper on 2nd. base.
