That looks like the angle shown in the sketch. Maybe he only thought he was on the Veramendi house. I think he was in Bexar during the 1835 battle and (maybe?) should have known where the Veramendi house was, but who knows? I agree the angle is wrong. The sketch does look like it might have been done from an elevated point, maybe the roof of some other building.
My point is that many things in that sketch are seriously wrong, but the angle seems consistent. I wonder why S-N ever wrote that the sketch was done from the Veramendi house unless he was mistaken about where that house actually was. More unanswered Alamo questions!

If this painting in Nelson's 'Illustrated Alamo' is accurate, it would seem rather difficult to sketch the Alamo from the Veramendi house in the way presented by S-N.
