I do not really have the expertise to judge how accurate Daniel Rasmussan's new book American Uprising- The Untold Story of America's Largest Slave Revolt is, but it could help illustrate why there was no help for the Alamo. This slave struggle for freedom which occurred just prior to the War of 1812 had major repercusssions in New Orleans. The memory of this event might have been on the minds of certain Texas colonists and they might have been worrying about what was the worst threat : Mexican invasion, Native American attacks or a slave revolt. They made their choices accordingly.
