I'm not sure that scenario works, Gary. Although there were 35 Comanches killed in the Council House fight (30 braves, 3 women, and 2 children), Dr. Edmund Weideman claimed two complete bodies so he could have the skeletons, and also took two other skulls. That leaves 33 bodies, four short of the 37 found in the 1930s. Also, why go to the trouble of carting the bodies all the way from Main Plaza to the north side of the Alamo compound when there were doubtless closer places they could have been disposed at? I just threw it out there as something to consider. The Native American origin was determined by the "experts" who did examine the remains. Wouldn't be surprised if 33-37 bodies were carted to the northern part of the Alamo plaza for burial. Nothing surprises me when it comes to trying to rationalize history. The Alamo defenders' bodies were also carted or dragged away a considerable distance, if not as far as these Indians might have been. Some of the surviving Indians, including the "Comanche Queen," WERE in fact, kept as prisoners inside the Alamo. Food for thought. The discrepancy in numbers doesn't bother me. Who can say that a few other bodies weren't also thrown into the grave? All this is just "wondering aloud"....I never could buy the scenario that captured Tejanos were beheaded after the battle. Even for Santa Anna that would have been too outrageous, and would not have been hidden by local tradition.

He also allowed Esparza a burial, sparing his corpse the funeral pyre.
