On that December night in 1980, I was a 31-year-old "child-of-the-sixties" who like many musicians of my generation had cut my musical teeth on the Beatles. Mortality was something we didn't accept, until Mark David Chapman stepped out of the shadows in front of the Dakota and fired four shots into John on the night of Dec. 8. A lot more than a man died that night in New York. John's passing truly was an end of an era.
