1849 – This plat map was created for the Quartermaster’s Office of the U.S. Army soon after it began utilizing the compound. The initials F.E.B. on the map are of by a yet unknown draftsman.

CRC submitted this correction on March 5, 2011:
re. The Army 1849 map of the Alamon the initials at the bottom of the map are "F.E.B," not "J.E.B." Jacob Edmund Blake would have been delighted, I'm sure, to have drawn the map, but he died in 1846; and as the map was drawn 3 years after his passing, we shouldn't associate the two.
