Here is a comparison of the Dripping Springs Alamo movie set to the area of the real Alamo.

Thanks for the image -- extremely interesting. I wonder how the Bracketville set compares.

The aerial photo resolution of the Bracketville area is not as good but I measure the west wall length at about 390 feet vs 520 feet for the real thing. The Bracketville set does have a southern courtyard--unlike Dripping Springs.

Here are two attempts I made using the diagram of the Alamo from Mark Lemon's book. I don't guarantee the accuracy as the way I did the overlay was to match the Chapels and let everything else fall as it may. I have no idea why I think this is a good way of doing it, but that's what I did.

First is the Dripping Springs set. The Aerial photo is from Google Maps.

And then Brackettville's Alamo Village. The Aerial photo is from Terraserver.com
It's Black and white but it seemed to be the sharpest image.

Paul, your overlays look great. I used the church outline as a scaling reference as well.

These put the two sets into perspective. Looks like Wayne's set was pretty close over all.

I was under the impression that much of the reason for the changes in the Dripping Springs was for photographic reasons. I'm not so sure now. As I was looking at a drawing of it I had an epiphany. I'd seen that drawing before. It was drawn by Sanchez Navarro. So here is the Dripping Springs Alamo with the Navarro Alamo superimposed and made slightly transparent.
