For newbie's such as myself: What a delightful book this is, chock full of information & illustrations. It is coffee table sized & runs to some 217 pages. It covers the general history, the timeline, the weapons & uniforms, the great & the good on both sides. It also provides a fairly comprehensive list of defenders & a guide to movies, music & places to visit in the area. It has fairly large print (which is a bonus at my age) & the largest fold out representation of the Alamo in 1836 that you will ever see in book form. The representation, I must say, is not without it's errors but it does contain a covered wagon, three distinct flags & a horse trough, superb. The drawings are 'cartoon' style, they cover every aspect of the siege & battle & are entirely endearing. (At least to this reader) Like every book on the Alamo, it has it's bloopers, it has 'Deaf' Smith scouting the Mexican approach to Bexar alongside Sutherland & leaving with him afterwards, it has the same 'Deaf' Smith leaving as a courier at a later date. I am sure that the authors must have corrected this at a later date in subsequent editions. But it does not let Kevin Young or Gary Zaboly off the hook ;D All in all, a first class read. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Agreed, it's a valuable reference. And one of the authors is a member here. Tman56 is Terry Todish!

If ever you have a chance to sit and chat with Terry (ideally, sitting outside the Alamo on some pleasant evening), you will find it one of the most pleasant and enlightening Alamo discussions you will ever enjoy.

Will echo that Terry is a great guy. I have to like anyone that, during all the usual Alamo converstations during HHD will come up to me and ask, "What type of Bowie Knife do you think Quincey Morris used?" The lads put their heart and soul in the book. As to me being off the hook. Heck, apparently I am just chopped liver

Thanks for all the kind comments, friends, and Hollowhorn, I'm glad you liked it. And although Kevin and Gary did do an extraordinary amount of work helping us with it, ultimately, the mistakes were ours (mine and Tim's). And the Deaf/Colorado Smith mistake was just the result of reading something so many times that you just gloss over it. It's not justified, but it happens.
As far as it (and other things) being corrected in future printings, the book is currently out of print. As far as the future goes....I can't say anymore right now.....

Terry, it is one of the great fears of every author I imagine. You just read the stuff so many times there are things you just don't actually "see." We do our best, but we're human. You guys did a great job.

Editing a film is exactly the same thing. You ALWAYS look at the same points in the frame and ALWAYS miss the crew member peeking in the back door of the Cantina. LOL.
