Maybe it's me or my 'puter, but I'm getting an "image not found" message when I click the link.

Possibly a bad URL; I tried converting to shorter form using Tiny URL, but no go.

Possibly a bad URL; I tried converting to shorter form using Tiny URL, but no go. Same problem. However, I do know they did some sort of celebration for the anniversary of the battle of Tampico.

Martin, Looking at this painting again, I think it must be some early independence day celebration, but looking at the uniforms, and especially at the clothing of the civilians, it still has to be in the 1820's. There are some great details of the Sappers, especially as it shows the leather aprons, front and rear, also it looks like they are wearing bearskins, or at least fur-covered shakos(?!) On second thought, the artist is probably trying to show bearskins. Mark

Okay I posted both the Tampico print and the Mexican Army celebration and it seems they both work for now! Thank you Mark for your comments, very much appreciated! Martin Vasquez

No go for me at any of the links. Guess I'll have to use my imagination. Nice try, anyway, guys.

The celebration painting (as well as the high-res Tampico painting) that Martin posted are very significant visual snapshots of a variety of Mexican uniforms from the 1820's and 1830's, and deserve much more study. Hopefully, Martin can find a way to post them so that they remain intact for at least as long as it takes for all of us to get a better look at them. Good catch, Martin. Mark

The links are not working now. Martin, if you could email or post them on a photo hosting service perhaps we could make them available to members. Jim

I've got them, and they are great pictures, indeed. Thanks for taking the time and getting them on Phptpbucket so we could share in them.
