I blanche at having to admit this, but I only just now noticed in the 1836 plan view by Jose' Juan Sanchez-Navarro (not the "1840" similar view), a clear indication by SN that the so-called northern postern, the location of which was long a mystery to many interested in such things, was positively located in the northern most house (northern Castaneda House) along the west wall. Of course, this was suspected by myself and many others, but as far as I am aware, no one has cited a location with a clear reference. As one can see, SN shows it plainly (though it's very tiny) at the NW corner, on the western side. He has it one room off, however, as the room farthest north was filled in by earth and rubble in order to make the Fortin de Condelle. It actually was located one room to the south, in the middle, remaining room. The plan clearly shows that this is the only western-facing (doorway) opening in the west wall. Fortunately (for me), I speculated on this in my book and model, using the process of elimination, quite accurately as it turns out...I sure would have had to undo that error if it had been wrong!!
